FRENCH PLACE, SHOREDITCH

Set within the historic manufacturing district of East London, this project sees the modest yet highly considered restoration of an existing Victorian warehouse. The finished aesthetic presents an austere reception interior representative of that of the original building. To achieve this, modern interventions that had been installed over recent years had to be navigated, stripping out all unnecessary additions in order to regularise the floor plan to more closely reflect the original intentions. Reclaimed timber ceiling beams and floor joists allow for an exposed ceiling, whilst the existing crittal-style windows were left in place following refurbishment. Existing brickwork was cleaned and exposed.

Oxidised metal completes the aesthetic with extra large steel sheets forming the backdrop to the reception and other key features.
